Introduction to Information Technologies and Applications (IS100) is a
must course for undergraduate students in METU. The aim of the course is
to introduce students to the basic information technology concepts and
applications and make them both computer and information literate. They
are expected to use these basic skills during their undergraduate
studies as well as their professional lives.
IS100 course has been given by the Department of Information Systems in Informatics Institute since 1999. More than a thousand students are registered to IS100 course each semester. The course is also given in METU Northern Cyprus Campus.
IS100 lectures are taught in Computer Center PC Rooms and course materials are provided via Net-Class. During the lectures, instructors explain general concepts and emphasize important points using interactive presentations and class activities. Students are responsible to study all provided course materials and comprehensive tutorials each week.
There are many phases including proficiency exam, registration, dropping the course, choosing online sections and approvals that each student should be aware of. Please see the below "to-do list" to obtain detail information about each phase.
